Pisa · arriving by car
Where to stay in Pisa with free parking, outside the ZTL
If you arrive in Pisa by car, sleeping in the historic centre is the most expensive and most complicated choice. We're in Cisanello: outside the limited-traffic zone, with free parking, and the centre one bus ride away.
Looking for guest rooms in Pisa? One honest clarification
People searching for guest rooms in Pisa usually have this in mind: a house with a few rooms, at a fair price, without the formality of a hotel. That's what we are — an affittacamere, licensed guest rooms — with one difference worth flagging: we don't serve breakfast. There's a bar a one-minute walk away, and that's where our guests have it.
We say so up front, because that's the kind of detail that ruins an otherwise good stay when you discover it on arrival.
Why staying outside the centre pays off, if you're driving
Pisa's historic centre is largely a limited-traffic zone (ZTL): drive in without a permit and you get a fine, and the car parks around the walls charge by the hour, every day of the year. A hotel in the centre rarely solves your parking problem — it usually hands it to you.
In Cisanello the problem doesn't arise: we are outside the ZTL, the car goes in the large free car park next to the house and stays there as long as you need. No parking disc, no parking app, no rushing out to move it in the morning.
Getting to the Leaning Tower
The Leaning Tower and the historic centre are 15 minutes away by city bus, with the stop in the neighbourhood. It's how our guests get there: leave the car where it is, get off in the centre, and come back without a parking space to find.
We won't tell you we're "next to the Tower", because we aren't: fifteen minutes by bus is convenient, not close. If you want to step out of your room into Piazza dei Miracoli, stay in the centre and budget for parking.
A night before your flight, or after
Galileo Galilei airport is 15 minutes away by car and Pisa Centrale station 12 minutes. If you have an early flight or land late, sleeping near the airport without paying for parking makes more sense than crossing the city twice.

The rooms, and what isn't here
The Double Room costs €75 per night for two people, the Small Room €60 per night for solo travellers. Sheets, towels and soap are included, Wi-Fi is free, and guests can use the terrace and the washing machine.
What you won't find: the bathroom is shared, there is no air conditioning (central heating in winter, fans in summer) and breakfast is not served on site. At €60 a night in a city of art, we'd rather say it in advance.
Questions from guests arriving by car
Is the parking really free?
Yes, and there's plenty of it. It isn't a deal with a paid garage or a limited number of spaces: it's the house's own car park.
Can we reach the centre without the car?
Yes, by bus, about 15 minutes to the historic centre. We'll point you to the stop and the tickets when you arrive.
Are you suitable for a single overnight stop?
Yes. Many guests stay one night before a flight. Write to info@dolcedormirepisa.it or call +39 347 259 2234.
